UK Status
Resident. Fairly widespread in England and parts of
Wales.
Montgomeryshire Status
First recorded in 2013 at Middletown in the east of the county. A
scarce species, this was only the third record for north Wales.

M & F 9-10mm.
Confusion species
Many species of Elachista are extremely similar, great care should be
given when separating these species. |

Habitat
Shady woodland.
Foodplant
False brome, cock's-foot and soft grass.
Lifestage data
Leaf miner. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva mines downwards in a long,
slender irregular gallery with a central tube to retreat to,
overwintering as a fully fed larva. Pupates on dead vegetation on the
